Emergency lake rescue after wastewater discharge
After a wastewater discharge left a lake with foul odor and elevated nutrients, four aerators were deployed as an emergency measure. Within a month, oxygen levels more than quintupled.
The customer's challenge
The lake — 5.9 meters deep with a surface area of 0.04 km², home to perch, roach and two species of freshwater mussels — was hit by a wastewater discharge in the fall. The result: a foul odor across the area and elevated levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and bacteria. The municipality warned against swimming and letting dogs enter the water for six months.
The solution
To oxygenate the lake, four AirTURBO RV2 units from Eden Aquatech were installed as an initial emergency measure, with water samples taken regularly to track the recovery.
The result
Within one month, the oxygen levels in the lake had more than quintupled.
