Acting as a physical barrier, they prevent oil from spreading over larger areas and make cleanup more efficient. The booms handle varying water conditions and can be used in both still and flowing water.
For maximum effect, they can be combined with absorbent booms, which soak up the contained oil directly from the water surface.
