Leachate water treatment

Leachate is a complex liquid that forms when water percolates through waste landfills, carrying dissolved contaminants with it. It may contain organic substances, heavy metals, nutrients and other harmful compounds, making it one of the most challenging liquids to treat.
In older landfills, leachate also forms when groundwater and surface water penetrate the landfill body. If released untreated into natural water systems, it can damage ecosystems and contribute to eutrophication — and it frequently contains long-lived chemicals such as PFAS that accumulate in soil, water and organisms.
Treating leachate requires advanced purification techniques to meet strict discharge regulations and minimize the impact on surrounding ecosystems. With our methods, we can reduce pollutants by up to 99.5%, depending on the composition of the leachate and the chosen treatment solution.
