Stormwater treatment at Arlanda Airport

De-icing agents from Scandinavia's largest airport reach a nearby lake via stormwater. Aeration and barrier walls create the treatment zones that break them down.

The customer's challenge

At Arlanda Airport, de-icing agents are released into a nearby lake via stormwater. Left untreated, the organic load from glycol-based agents consumes oxygen in the receiving water and degrades the lake environment.

The solution

Eden Aquatech's solution combines oxygen supply with barrier walls. The aerators and the controlled flow path create both an aerobic and an anaerobic zone — the sequence needed to break down the de-icing agents biologically before the water continues into the lake.
